PMA Launches Technical Forum for Spanish-Speaking Metalformers

CLEVELAND, OH—October 30, 2006—The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) has launched an online Spanish technical forum to address the needs of Spanish-speaking companies involved in metal stamping, tool and die, sheet metal fabricating and assembly. This new resource allows manufacturers to ask questions and share information on common manufacturing issues and best practices.

The forum is divided into four sections: processes and technologies, materials, business solutions and design. Topics covered in the processes and technologies section include metal stamping, tool and die, sheet metal fabricating and forming, welding, surface preparation and finishing, and assembly. The materials section contains information on metal specifications, uses and types of metals, material handling and standards equivalents. Topics addressed in the business solutions area include process and production software, safety and quality. This section also contains a job forum. The design area includes discussions on part design, design software, and design of dies and molds.

In response to suggestions from previous METALFORM Mexico trade show attendees, PMA Mexico seminar participants and PMA Mexico members, PMA created the forum to support the growing need for interaction within Spanish-speaking communities. The forum may be accessed at mexico.pma.org/forum/phpbb2/index.php.

PMA is the full-service trade association representing the $41-billion metalforming industry of North America-the industry that creates precision metal products using stamping, fabricating and other value-added processes. Its nearly 1200 member companies include metal stampers, fabricators, spinners, slide formers and roll formers as well as suppliers of equipment, materials and services to the industry. Members are located in 30 countries, with the majority found in North America-in 41 states of the United States as well as Canada and Mexico.
